Doncaster Dartes Swimming Club is first and foremost a swimming club, but our swimmers are also part of our community. A key aim of the club is not just to develop our swimmers as swimmers - but also to help them develop as individuals.
The club’s ‘Core Values’ are also developing, they’re not written in stone, but they represent how we feel about the club and what we think is important.
Mission Statement
Doncaster Dartes Swimming club is a competitive swimming club with the purpose and commitment to:
- Advance the sport of swimming
- Increase participation in competitive swimming and artistic swimming
- Recruit individuals who share our vision
- Provide swimmers with the highest quality coaching
- Create and maintain an enjoyable and productive swimming environment
- Recognise each individual and value his or her role in the success of our organisation
- Encourage positive mental attitudes and mutual respect
- Ensure that swimmers and volunteers have a positive and enjoyable experience during their period of membership of the club
- Teach and develop life skills through our swimming programme
- Provide swimmers with the opportunities to grow and reach their highest possible level of achievement
We think our swimmers should:
- Be honest and think about what is the right thing to do
- Be committed to being the best they can be
- Be well behaved and represent their friends and their club
- Value competition but not more than sportsmanship
- Be happy and enjoy being active
- Value excellence & work ethic: reach maximum potential as an athlete
- Promote the values of team participation in addition to those of individual excellence
