June has proved rather busy with meets, Club Champiosnhips and Club Visits so this test set took a little time to put up. It's here now though and some good improvements throughout our top squad along with new additions to the all time leaderboard. British Swimming's marker of 3mins for a 200m kick was the Gold standard of years gone by. A number of Saturday mornings following this announcement included lovely tough 20x100m max effort set of kick to develop more power and have a sneaky look at who's closing in on that magic pace (1min 30 for 100m). Could that be a sign of things to come in the final month of the season?

The top girls in those kind of sets (Phoebe, Freya, Kiera, Jessica H) traditionally beat down on 1min 30 with a few others not too far behind. Interesting to see the large drop off over these 400m reps; the extra distance to each rep makes a massive difference to the pace. Saying that though, the toll of the final cycle seems to be taking it's toll with our leaders someway behind their usual pace.

It was nice to see Ruby Wakelin, beetroot red, making some small gains on her previous time, moving one place up on the leaderboard and consolidating her spot in the sub 6 minute club along with Isabella Debenham, Millie Dey and Alexander Eggitt all making improvements on previous efforts.

For those of you attempting this for the first time, like Alfie Brown and Isaac Ward, and finding yourself down towards the bottom, don't be dispirited. Click on the previous posts to see where your peers were in their first test sets. Everyone is faster than that, so all of you can follow a similar progression and aim for 7 minutes!
