Swim England National County Team Championships

Doncaster Dartes

The Swim England National County Team Championships once again returned to Sheffield after a lengthy spell without the competition due to Covid-19. The County Team Championships is always a fun, colourful, loud and competitive event that has a huge crowd come along to cheer on their County!

Dartes swimmers, Greta Highfield and Jenson Owen were selected to compete for Team Yorkshire!

Greta raced in the Women’s 14/15 200m Medley Team, which came 13th out of 20 teams. Greta took the Breaststroke leg of the relay racing a fast 32.76 split! Jenson competed in the Boys 12/13 years 100m Backstroke taking second place out of the 20 competitors with a time of 1:03.76 with top place Monty Smith from Berkshire and Buckinghamshire coming on top in 1:01.41. Jenson also played a part in the Men’s 12/13 200m Medley Team, which saw them take top spot in front of Scotland East and Northumberland and Durham.

An enthralling competition throughout the event and it was definitely a nail biter in the closing stages of the Championships! Just two events remaining saw Yorkshire and Kent battle it out for the Championship, and it went down to the wire, but unfortunately not in Yorkshire’s favour.

Yorkshire came in second place just 4 points off top spot!

The top 3 standings:

Kent 469

Yorkshire 465

Northumberland & Durham 420

Well done to both Greta & Jenson representing Team Dartes for the Yorkshire County!
