BML Round-up

Adam Burton

A busy fortnight in late September saw DARTES complete their BML Division 4 fixture list over consecutive weekends and in turn securing promotion. We await formal confirmation of the results, but it is expected that we will join Sheffield City, Edlington and Wakefield in division 3 next year.

Going into the 2nd and 3rd rounds with a healthy 59 point lead allowed the opportunity for the club to provide valuable competitive swimming experience to a wider group of children. Even more pleasing was that they too proved to be more then capable of successfully competing at this level, securing wins in the gala’s at Wakefield and Rossington to claim top spot in the division.

Both gala’s somewhat continued the trend of recent BML fixtures with DARTES swimmers proving dominant in the water across most age groups however our DQ tally remains a concern, with an average of 8 in each gala. At least half of these are down to relay takeovers which given the comfortable ‘winning’ margins we were experiencing really is inexcusable. Definitely a work on for the 2025 season!
